Extraordinary Dwellings: Exploring the ‘Whoa’ Factor in Unique Homes

Right here is where you will see some of the most fascinating places to live in the region, from floating homes to properties that were owned by the likes of Oprah and Bill Gates to restored treehouses, to homes that look like rockets, trains, bunkers and barns.

The main thing is that there is always a ‘whoa’ factor that stops me in my tracks – from properties that were owned by the likes of Oprah and Bill Gates to restored treehouses, to homes that look like rockets, trains, bunkers and barns!

I’ve been writing about amazing homes for year and loving all the choices.

Mostly I love the people who have lived and loved in each of these abodes; it’s all the ins and outs and nuances that grab me.

The stories are endless and varied but the common threads are the emotional ties these home owners feel with their property, what drew them there, what kept them there, and also why they would choose to part with the place they love so much.

I have a deep appreciation for the home owners and for the stellar brokers who have connected with me and who continue to connect, and offer up amazing listings. So here’s a tip of the hat to all the amazing well establishes brokers and owners who will continue to approach me with their news, and to others who will grace this page with their outstanding abodes.

Meet the Author

I’m a viewer. An observer. A storyteller. A broadcaster. A writer. A regional “influencer,” they tell me.

Just call me “Positively Patti Payne,” a mom, a business woman, a longtime award-winning broadcaster, emcee, keynote speaker, commercial voice, columnist, consultant.

I am principal of my own public affairs/community relations business, The Payne Group: Communicating and Connecting.

I’m a zealot about animals, baking, culinary creating, gardening, quiet time, laughing, and life!

I was a professional musician who played drums and sang nightly on club stages in a jazz combo when my two daughters were growing up; and later in a jazz combo headed by Seattle Mariners chairman emeritus John Ellis.
